Mohamed Toto
A Cairo native, Toto began his career as a professional football player, then switched to theater acting, before discovering his true calling as a dancer. After graduating from Cairo Contemporary Dance Center's full-time professional contemporary program, he started performing for French choreographer Olivier Dubois’ piece ITMAHRAG with which he toured France and other European countries in 2021 and 2022.
As a practitioner of the popular Egyptian street dance Shaaby, Toto is a true ambassador of his culture. With influences from street fighting, the style is constantly evolving as it reflects the stories and emotions being told with the dance. As a result of the movement, the practitioners discovers new ways of expressing themselves and gains a new understanding of the space.
